The target audience for this course is independent software vendors, systems integrators, IBM technical staff, architects, and developers responsible for implementing solutions using WebSphere Portal 6.1. IBM WebSphere Portal 5.0 architects and developers will benefit as well.
In this hands-on lab course, students explore the operational aspects of an IBM WebSphere Portal 6.1 installation. Students will practice tasks such as installation, migration of data to a relational database, and utilization of a Lightweight Directory Access Protocol (LDAP) directory. This course focuses on the deployment and management of portal resources, such as portlets, pages, themes, and skins. Students will also manage page hierarchies and configure resource permissions on portal resources.
Before taking this course, students should have:
- Intermediate administration skills using IBM WebSphere Application Server 6.0 or 6.1, acquired through experience and/or completion of IBM WebSphere Application Server Administration course SW246 or WA361
- Basic knowledge of portals and WebSphere Portal, acquired by completing IBM WebSphere Portal 6.0 Fundamentals (WP010)
